Monthly R.E.P.O.R.T.S. September

I know, I know, it’s a little (okay, a lot) past September. But like everyone else, sometimes life just gets in the way. And honestly? That’s exactly why I love doing these R.E.P.O.R.T.S. Even when things feel busy, taking a moment to reflect on what brings joy reminds me how full life really is. So, even if it’s fashionably late, here’s what made September so special.

Reading.

Meditations for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman

This month’s read (or listen!) has been all about presence, and wow, did I need that reminder. Burkeman’s reflections are such a grounding companion, especially during busy or uncertain seasons. His take on time and meaning makes you pause in the best way. I’ve found myself replaying chapters during morning walks or while making coffee, and every time it feels like a little mental reset.

Eating.

We’ve been getting Marley Spoon for years now, and I still love it just as much. The best part? Todd has become an incredible amateur chef; he follows the recipe cards to the letter, while I tend to improvise (sometimes too much).

When we’re not in the mood for one of the planned meals, I’ll take the ingredients and reinvent them into something new. It’s been such a fun and low-stress way to enjoy dinner together. If you’re tired of the “what should we eat tonight?” conversation, a meal delivery service truly changes the game.

Playing.

Learning this game has been hilarious. Todd may or may not have had the rules a little backward at first, which led to a lot of laughter before we finally figured it out (thank you, Logan, Brian, and Danielle, for your patience and game-master expertise).

It’s perfect for group nights, but also surprisingly fun for just two people. With the holidays coming up, I can already tell Wavelength is going to be a go-to for family nights, friendly competition, and belly laughs.

Obsessing.

You know that simple daily ritual that suddenly feels elevated? That’s what Homecourt has done for washing hands. The scents are soft but luxurious, and the packaging looks so pretty sitting on the counter. It’s one of those little things that makes you feel just a bit more put-together,  proof that even a hand wash can spark joy.

RecOMMending.

After deciding to give my nails a break from acrylics, I went on the hunt for something that would help repair and strengthen them, and Dazzle Dry delivered. Their “Mend” treatment has been perfect for recovery, while the “Transform” ridge filler makes my nails look naturally smooth and healthy.

The full system leaves them looking polished and clean without the salon hassle. If your nails need a reset, this is the one.

Gifting Something From Your State

On a recent trip to meet up with friends (we all started in Oregon but now live all across the country), I wanted to bring a little piece of Colorado to share. My current go-to gift: Half Baked Harvest: Super Simple by Tieghan Gerard.

It’s local, it’s beautiful, and it’s delicious. We’ve been swapping photos of what we’ve made. Jen’s “Easiest Cinnamon Apple Tarts” were chef’s kiss. There’s something so special about sharing a taste of home.

Coffee Sarap (RiNo, Denver)

The Lavender District team met up here this month, and it was such a highlight. The space is stunning, the atmosphere is creative and calm, and the drinks were as beautiful as they were delicious. We all tried something different (because that’s half the fun), and it ended up sparking such a good, creative conversation. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger, and definitely one we’ll be returning to.

Why We Share Monthly R.E.P.O.R.T.S.

Even when we fall behind or forget to slow down, these monthly reflections remind us to pause, look around, and notice the things, big and small, that made life brighter.

So, whether you’re reading this in October (or beyond), maybe take a second to think about what your September R.E.P.O.R.T.S. would have looked like. Because even if time flies, the joy is always worth remembering.
