Healing Through Food, Heart, and Inspiration
One of our favorite podcasts, and a constant source of inspiration, is The Mel Robbins Podcast. During our weekly meeting, we chatted about one of her recent episodes featuring Dr. Dawn Mussallem, and it truly moved us.
Dr. Mussallem shared her journey of surviving stage 4 cancer and later receiving a heart transplant. Hearing her speak about resilience, healing, and gratitude after everything she’s faced brought us to tears. Her perspective on caring for your body and leading with optimism reminded us of the power of the human spirit.
The timing of this episode couldn’t have been more fitting; the focus was on foods that heal your body. We learned how simple choices, like incorporating colorful, nutrient-rich foods (purple sweet potatoes, anyone?), can have a significant impact on your long-term health.
It came just as we were starting new wellness resets. I’m doing a cranberry juice cleanse with my long-distance friends, and Suzanne is revisiting the Candida diet.
We even got to reflect on the episode together over breakfast at one of our favorite Denver spots, Green Collective Eatery, where the universe sent us a little extra love, hearts in our hot chocolates. And these weren’t just any hot chocolates; they were packed with reishi, chaga, lion’s mane, and cacao. So naturally, we had two!
It’s moments like this, sharing stories, nourishing our bodies, and finding beauty in small details, that inspire everything we do here at The Lavender District.
We’d love to hear from you. Are there any foods or rituals you swear by for healing your body or boosting your energy? Share them with us on Instagram!
